Neil Aitken: The Web Designer

I have been designing websites for myself and others for the last 10 years.

I handcode every webpage I work on using HTML, CSS, Dynamic HTML, and occasionally JavaScript. I create all artwork and logos from scratch -- there is nothing stock or generic about my approach.

Once I have a few visual concepts for your website, I will put together an image file for each of these looks and send them to you or post online where you can see them. We will then discuss which is the best fit and what needs to be adjusted. I am not currently doing any Flash sites and will likely not be doing any in the future (Flash sites are often more gimmicky than effective).

Neil Aitken: The Creative Professional

I am a creative writing instructor, a published poet, a non-fiction writer, an editor, a photographer, and an artist.

I am the founding editor of Boxcar Poetry Review (www.boxcarpoetry.com), an online poetry journal with a particular interest in first books of poetry. I recently moved back to Los Angeles and am currently pursuing at PhD in Literature & Creative Writing at USC.

My work has appeared or is forthcoming in Crab Orchard Review, Avatar Review, RHINO, Washington Square, and DIAGRAM, and has been nominated for the Pushcart Award. In 2004, my poem "Adrift" won the Prairie Poetry Friends' Award, and in 2005, my manuscript, The Lost Country of Sight, placed as a semi-finalist in the University of Wisconsin Press Poetry Series.
